Guide Dogs NSW/ACT
The Challenge
Guide Dogs NSW/ACT is widely recognised for its work supporting people who are blind or have low vision. However, the organisation’s expertise and advocacy extend well beyond traditional disability services, encompassing accessibility, employment, mobility and inclusion.
The challenge was to broaden government engagement and position Guide Dogs NSW/ACT as an influential voice in the wider policy conversations shaping the independence and participation of people with low vision or blindness.
The Solution
Fifty Acres worked with Guide Dogs NSW/ACT to develop a more strategic approach to government engagement, connecting the organisation’s priorities with broader federal and NSW policy agendas.
We identified opportunities to engage decision-makers across portfolios and supported conversations on employment participation, Anti-Discrimination Act reform, digital accessibility and inclusive public spaces.
By positioning these priorities within wider government discussions, we helped demonstrate how Guide Dogs NSW/ACT’s expertise could contribute to more accessible and inclusive communities.
The Outcome
Our work expanded Guide Dogs NSW/ACT’s engagement with federal and NSW decision-makers, opening new conversations across a broader range of policy areas.
This helped strengthen the organisation’s position not only as a trusted service provider, but as a proactive contributor to the policy decisions affecting the independence, opportunities and participation of people who are blind or have low vision.
